A surprising number of human cultures once believed (or maybe still believe) that cameras steal the soul. I used to laugh at the idea until I started shooting video for a living and found myself describing what I do as “capturing someone’s soul on tape.” This statement, like my belief in the soul, is figurative. But nothing makes me happier than when I feel like I have captured someone’s spirit on tape. This week I finished two videos about two very different people who express themselves in very different ways but I feel like I got to the truth of them. What do you think?
