As most anyone who has read my blog knows, I’ve been following the birth of Sun King Brewing Co. since early spring of this year. But the story really started several years ago when I wrote a blurb on brewer Clay Robinson’s instructional DVD set “Beer Juggs,” or maybe even earlier, in 2005 when Clay was hired on as the assistant brewer at the RAM downtown by Dave Colt. It’s been a fun experiment to tell the Sun King story as it happens, to open a window into a business before it’s fully operational. Today Metromix published my cover story on Sun King, which is in the middle of a soft open, distributing beer to bars and restaurants while completing work on the building. The story is the end of the prologue, the point where I jump off and watch the story develop along with everyone else. It’s been a fun ride. Come celebrate the end of Sun King’s beginning at Brother’s on Broad Ripple Ave. tonight. They will be tapping the Metromix Saison de Taffy, the beer I helped Clay and Dave make.
