If you were at our highly enjoyable, hugely successful fundraiser last night you heard the big news first – Homespun has signed a lease. As of May 1 Amanda and I took possession of a retail space at 5624 E. Washington St. in the Irvington Shoppes building, the same building where you’ll find The Legend, Jockamo, Help My Mac, Blooming Dragon, Irvington PC, etc. Work has already begun to get the space ready for our grand opening, which we expect to take place the second week of July. It’s a sprint now to get the interior design plan done and implemented, set up our POS, gather fixtures, acquire and merchandise the items we will carry on day one, and execute our advertising and marketing plan. Oh, and we have to promote and produce our biggest event to date in little more than five weeks. No sweat.
Another thing you saw if you were at aforementioned highly enjoyable, hugely successful fundraiser are our snazzy Homespun shirts for him and for her. They were printed by PRN Graphics, a small screen printing shop that until recently was run out of the basement of a private residence near the Children’s Museum. I placed several shirt orders with Errol and Jason for a band I used to be in so when it came time to make merch for the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange, and then Homespun, I knew who to call. Now PRN Graphics is located behind Vibes Records in SoBro (just east of College Ave. on 54th St.) and the business is growing. It’s amazing what having a sign can do, not to mention being able to show customers where the work is being done. If you’d like to see the shirts or (heaven forbid) buy one, come see us at the IHE Summer Show!
