Amanda and I gained quite a bit of momentum through hustling for, and winning, our Pepsi Refresh grant. This month, you have another opportunity to shape the future of Indianapolis in less than a minute per day. People for Urban Progress is an Indianapolis-based not-for-profit that salvaged 13 of the 15 acres of the Hoosier Dome (yeah, I said it) roof when it was deflated prior to demolition. The group has been making really cool wallets, bags, and accessories out of the material but their new initiative could have far-reaching positive implications for our city. PUP has created a Pepsi Refresh profile in the hopes of raising the funds necessary to design, construct, and deliver 150 to 250 shelters to Indianapolis’ parks, all made from re-purposed Hoosier Dome fabric. It’s a creative, ambitious, community-minded, and environmentally sustainable plan. You can make it happen by devoting less than a minute to casting a vote each day this month. If you voted for Homespun’s proposal then you’re already registered. If you voted for Homespun’s proposal you’re probably burned out on the idea of voting for Pepsi Refresh grants but c’mon – less a minute a day to vote for urban progress. I think it’s worth it. Do you?
